Elon in a Day

For my final DMC project, I decided to make a video based off the movie Life in a Day.  I took clips from Elon students, as well as my own clips, all from May 8, 2012.  It shows what happens at Elon on a normal day.  I picked May 8th because it is my friend’s birthday from high school who passed away on November 2, 2009.  The video is a reminder that every day is special and every moment should be cherished.

Video Game Stop Motion

A stop motion video is when you take many photographs and place them next to each other to form an animation. For my video, I found inspiration from the video, “Gummy Bear Stop Motion” and used gummy bears to create the idea of a video game scenario. Here is the video.

Winter Term Logo

Elon University’s theme for the 2013 Winter Term is diversity. The school held a competition in order to find a logo that embraces that theme. This is the design I created for the contest.

Stop Motion Inspiration

In my DMC class, we are currently learning about stop motion and preparing for our upcoming project.  In order to gain inspiration, I looked at a few stop motion videos on youtube.  Out of all the videos I watched, my favorite was “Deadline.”  It is a stop motion using post-it notes on the wall above a man on the computer to tell the story of what he is doing online.  You can see the intricacy of the video for yourself below.

A Beautiful Mess blog

Last night while on Stumpleupon.com, I came across a blog that I really enjoyed reading.  The blog is called “A Beautiful Mess,” and it was created by Elsie Larson.  The blog contains everything a typical girl would love, including photography, decor, crafts, cooking, and fashion. So if you want to cook up a tasty treat, craft something for a birthday or your little, or learn about the newest fashion trends, you should check out this blog:

Night Photography

Night photography is my favorite type of photography that I have done in my DMC class so far.  There are so many different ways to capture the same scene by changing the aperture and shutter speed.  I love the bright, beautiful colors that stand out against the dark night sky.  This is what I think makes night photography so beautiful.  I also experimented with night writing.  I found it to be much more difficult than it seemed.  Writing a simple phrase like “All You Need Is Love” took almost an hour because it took so many tries to get the words to be easily readable.  Experimenting with night photography was definitely a fun experience.

Portraits

I had to take portraits for an assignment in my DMC class.  We had to have 10 portraits of five different people, which were made up of 1 self-portrait, 2 mimics, 1 panoramic, and six freestyle portraits.

Below are my 10 portraits.
